KBS founded as a broadcasting station in 1947, is the largest public service broadcaster in Korea with two terrestrial TV channels, one satellite TV channel and seven radio channels.

KBS¡¯s production system had been tape-based for a long time and each constituent task unit of the entire production workflow was not integrated with one another on-line, which led to its linear, time-consuming and inefficient production environment. To digitize and optimize its analog and inefficient production workflow, KONAN DigitalArc for Production has been utilized.

KONAN DigitalArc¡¯s components run as facilitators that glue the entire production workflow together. Legacy systems and other 3rd party solutions including Incite Encoding Server, SGI Storage, Apple Final Cut Pro (Non-Linear Editor) and ADIC Tape Library, seamlessly integrate to create a streamlined digital workflow from ingest through to archiving.

SBS TV, one of the largest and the most innovative broadcasting stations in Korea, has selected Konan Technology Inc. as a solution partner for multimedia asset management system of its revolutionary News Digital System Project started in March 2003.

SBS expects to integrate such surrounding broadcasting equipments as NLE, APC, NRCS, and storages into the state-of-the art broadcasting system.

The Korean Broadcasting Institute (KBI), a non-profit organization established in 1989, has systematically managed TV programs as cultural assets, establishing an integrated system for the collection, storing, processing, and servicing of relevant materials so that broadcasting professionals and businessmen, and the general public who are interested in broadcasting, may get various media-related information both on and offline.

To digitalize the music in CDs and tapes and store, search and manage the digitalized contents through a network, SBS Radio Station employed Konan DigitalArc for Audio.

Thus users can choose and hear the music in MPEG 2 format before broadcasting through radio stations or distributing through the Internet. The system optimized the users' audio asset management through both information sharing and optimal information management based on DBMS.
